Negative Imperatives


          Negative Imperatives:
         Remember that an imperative is expressed by a verb word.
        Avoid using an infinitive instead of a verb word and don’t after “would you please”.
     
        Examples:

1. Incorrect: Would you please don’t smoke.
          Correct: Would you please not smoke.
          Or; Please don’t smoke.

2. Incorrect: Please don’t to park here.
          Correct: Please don’t park here.
          Or; Would you please not park here.

3. Incorrect: Would you please not to be late.
          Correct: Would you please not be late.
          Or; Please don’t be late.

4. Incorrect: Please don’t to go yet.
          Correct: Please don’t go yet.
          Or; Would you please not go yet.

5. Incorrect: Would you please don’t worry.
          Correct: Please don’t worry.
          Or; Would you please not worry.

6. Incorrect: Please not make photocopies of copyrighted material without the permission 
                      of the publisher.
          Correct: Please don’t make photocopies of copyrighted material without the permission 
                          of the publisher.
